"The Great Car Economy" by Margaret "T-Bird" Thatcher

People accuse me of being "ANTI-CAR". Well I am. Where is the crime in that?
I would be "ANTI-HELICOPTER" if there were billions of them effectively trying to destroy me and everything around me.

Margaret "T-Bird" Thatcher in a 1989 speech hailed with praise what she called "The Great Car Economy".

She was pretending to describe something that she had created as if it had spontaneously emerged by the will of the people. When it was the will of the government!

This included embarking on a grand scheme of road-building.

The M25 LITERALLY WAS NOT THERE before 1987. Only 27 years ago! People forget that.
So for example - an option would perhaps be to get rid of it altogether AS MUCH AS expand it!
Points like that ARE NEVER EVER CONSIDERED!

From comparatively no cars at all ANYWHERE in about 1950 - in the space of a few decades - a PINPRICK in historical time - AUTOMOBILES have come to dominate many of our societies and very nearly destroyed us and our tiny planet.

Quite a feat.
The expansion and the destruction CONTINUE unchecked and unabated!

The proposition that Politics is Economics is proven by things like this.
Our ENTIRE SOCIETY and hence POLITICAL SYSTEM is far too based on the Automobile and mass automobile ownership and usage.
By government choice - NOT consumer private choice!....

Many attempts have been made to break the domination of the Car and Car Industries over our capitalist society. They are always crushed early on.

Even the Green Movement has had ANTI-AUTOMIBILISM within it subtly downplayed - if not utterly crushed.
It is a combination of apathy and deliberate disinclination to "ROCK THE BOAT"!
Cars make people money. Because of the way things are set up. Not through choice.
IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS.
On the part of Greens and many others - the surrender to the automobile is complete!

This began as early the 1930s.
Aldous Huxley gave an idea of where he thought AUTOMOBILISM could lead to.
An underacknowledged part of "Brave New World" is the fact that it is set in ABOUT the year 600 A.F. (After Ford). Referring to AFTER FORD - as in AFTER Henry Ford.
Henry Ford was an open and sincere Nazi sympathizer!

An implication of this imagined dating system is clear:
The Car/Capitalism/Mass Production will replace religion as the meaning of our society!
It of course has - for some time now!
But we forget how recent this is!.....

Bertrand Russell said of this great 1932 Dystopian work (which is probably less famous than Orwell's work "Nineteen Eighty Four"):
"IT IS ALL TOO LIKELY TO COME TRUE."
...........

This is an excellent book from 1990 that is still worth reading today.
It is a lamentable tragedy that David Icke has since those days become a purveyor of bile and execrable nonsense.
